PRChannel Launches New Online Resource

prchannelPRChannel, launched in December 2008, could become one of the premiere online resources for public relations agencies. The portal has a PR directory, a fresh blog and it looks like they are trying to add even more tools as the site grows.

Today they launched their Public Relations Dashboard – a database that contains hundreds of helpful links to resources and tools for the PR professional.

The PR Dashboard also has a submit feature that give users the opportunity to submit PR related sites, blogs, articles and other resources. The bad news is that all links on PRChannel are “nofollow” – apparently PRChannel is afraid of Google penalties for sites that publish “paid links.”

PRChannel will review all submissions and then only approve those that are relevant and highly qualitative. Anyone can submit a resource for inclusion and anyone can sign up with PRChannel for free.

For company listings unfortunately, PRChannel targets only companies from US and offers three types of listings: Standard City Listing – free, Featured City Listing and Featured State Listing – paid. For a company that aims to build the best public relations resource available a Global directory of companies would be a better choice.

A tip for PRChannel: Google doesn’t penalize directories, but sites that “sell links” through brokers like TextLinkAds, LinkWorth, etc. Google also penalizes publishers who sell contextual links and all other publications that don’t comply with Google’s anti-linking spam TOS. Directories don’t fall in this category.
