Update: The reports of IAC buying ReserveAmerica are erroneous. In fact IAC sold ReserveAmerica over a year ago according to management at IAC we received late this evening. All other information within this news report is accurate according to the IAC site, and their press. We apologize for any inconvenience this incorrect information may have caused. Here is the press release of the sale or ReserveAmerica from IAC.

Active Network (IAC), a conglomeration of sites targeting athletic and active-lifestyle users, announced today that it’s buying ReserveAmerica, an Internet service for campground space bookings the U.S. ReserveAmerica was a subsidiary of IAC, which includes such web-based businesses as; Vimeo, eViteVimeo, eVite and others.

No numbers on the acquisition price were disclosed in the release, but the San Diego-based company affords a large value added aspect to IAC’s already broad reach of sites. ReserveAmerica is North America’s largest provider of campsite reservation and camp site management tools.

From simple bookings to management software, IAC purchased a market segment leader in one fell swoop. IAC already controls some 50 brands in the interactive Internet market.

IAC’s CEO, Barry_Diller (top), for those who do not know, is the man behind more broadcast and media moves (if you count all the people he has trained) than Shakira has dance moves. Diller was behind Fox and USA Broadcasting companies among many others. Diller is married to famous designerDiane von Fürstenberg.
