HBO: Golden Network in Award Nominations
This morning, at 5:00 a.m. EST, while most of us in the U.S. were still fast asleep on our pillows, stars and networks were relieved of their anticipation when the nominations for the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced.
While many of the networks brought in a good representation of nominations, HBO was on top with 17 total nominations, and will plan on bringing in the New Year with the hopes of results in their favor. The nominations announced this morning, always considered an honor in themselves, resulted in HBO being represented as the golden network in award nominations for their films and popular shows.
Many would agree that this puts HBO ahead by a landslide, with Fox and Showtime coming in second, each with a modest six nominations. Fox did top the nomination tally for a single show with their new series Glee, which brought in a total of four nominations. Several shows and movies were close behind at three nominations each, including 30 Rock, Big Love, Damages, Dexter, Georgia O’Keeffe, Grey Gardens, Into the Storm, and Mad Men.
Nominations this year resulted in a wide variety of genres and a well-represented variety of topics and selections across the board.
Here’s a little glimpse of what HBO, as a single network, has brought their viewers this year. Just to give you an idea of what the other networks are up against. It will also give you a peek into what society prefers when shows and movies take the lead as a result of popular vote. I think you will agree that HBO is truly a golden network when it comes to providing their viewers with the diverse range of genres that are in demand.
