You know Cuyle Carvin from TV series like All My Children, As the World Turns, and One Life to Live; or from motion pictures like Gamers, Mind Morgue and other productions of the horror genre.
You may not know him if you are not a fan of the genre, but unlike many actors and celebrities we’ve reviewed at Everything PR, who would do about anything to get media attention, Carvin keeps a low profile, a rare modesty and a sense of dignity unexpected from someone so young and especially someone who is known for starring in movies that little children are not allowed to watch.
I speak of little children because Carvin makes a genuine effort to make a difference in their lives. Never mind The Snow Princes, where he is the narrator – think things that really matter, like health and fitness for example, like a fun, entertaining way to teach children how to exercise, and what are the principles of a healthy diet.
Not long ago, Fred M. Grandinetti, author of the landmark publication, Popeye: An Illustrated Cultural History, sent us a press release regarding Cuyle Carvin’s latest project – a coloring book for children.
In the book, written by Fred M. Grandinetti himself, with illustration by David Hudon, Carvin is a superhero who steps out of a little boy’s television set to teach him how to live a healthy life. They go running, bowling, swimming, and golfing, they play basketball and eventually they volunteer as chef helpers in a kitchen. Here we find Grandinetti’s passion for Popeye, as Cuyle prepares a big bowl of spinach for lunch.
With A Cuyle Carvin Coloring Book, the actor, the illustrator and the writer, hope to help promote a healthy lifestyle for little children – a good lesson in what I like to call “the PR of the heart.” There’s not enough focus on the right things in media and entertainment – any effort to educate children is a salutary endeavor, even more so when those who make the effort use their own talents and financial resources in their project.
The book is a non profit venture with free distribution to various youth groups, children’s hospitals and Churches. You can get the book by contacting the actor himself at cuyle@CuyleCarvin.com. We appreciate this rare opportunity to present readers and especially kids with something of value.
