All of the previous rumors of Chelsea Clinton’s wedding earlier this year have been confirmed false. The 29-year-old daughter of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the former U.S. President Bill Clinton is now engaged. Her fiancé, investment banker Marc Mezvinsky, is the son of former Representatives, Ed Mezvinsky (Iowa) and Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (Pennsylvania). The former President’s spokesperson announced the engagement to ABC News.

It is said that Chelsea met Marc in Washington D.C. as a teenager, and the two became close while studying at Stanford University. The Mezvinsky family has had a long-standing relationship with the Clinton family.

An email from this past Friday, that the happy couple sent to friends and family to announce their good news, ended up in the hands of People magazine:

“We’re sorry for the mass email but we wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Thanksgiving! We also wanted to share that we are engaged! We didn’t get married this past summer despite the stories to the contrary, but we are looking toward next summer and hope you all will be there to celebrate with us. Happy Holidays!”

Engagement and wedding rumors were circling the globe earlier this summer and were confirmed as being untrue by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Chelsea and Marc are now living in New York. Mezvinsky works at Goldman Sachs, while Clinton continues her graduate studies at Columbia University’s School of Public Health.
