The BP Gulf disaster has been in the news for months now. The up and down of the oil spill disaster seems like an unending trail of either lies or incompetence of criminal proportions. First the White House say Mother Nature made the oil go away, now NOAA scientists claim it is mostly still in the Gulf. The real science now points to 80 percent of the oil still impacting Gulf waters. What does this mean for Americans and the administration officials on the wrong side of public information?

All Ecuador Feels Today’s Earthquake

An early morning earthquake awakened Ecuador as the magnitude 6.9 event was felt as in the nation’s capital and beyond. Though no damage or injuries were reported, citizens were still shaken by the seismic event. At a depth of over 100 miles, the quake’s effects were luckily dampened. A similar quake in 1949 leveled all of nearby Ambato and dozens of towns and villages.

Twin Earthquakes Shake New Guinea

Twin earthquakes struck the Island of New Britain in Papau New Guinea earlier today, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning for Malaysia. The warning was later lifted. No early injuries or damages were reported according to the USGS and reports coming out of Indonesia.

A magnitude 6.5 earthquake woke Chileans from sleep this morning in the southern part of the South American country. After the earlier 8.8 magnitude disaster which struck the country, fear has to be a strong emotion in this part of the world in 2010.
