Becky Griggs, the Hot Trend of the Day, Believes in Fitness
She was not always a hottie. As a matter of fact, a few years ago, today’s “hot trend” used to look like (in her own words) a “mac-truck.” This is no longer the case. Today Becky Griggs is a picture of health, a woman who proved that the impossible is possible. She was featured on CNN iReport, ABC News, and other news outlets, back in 2008 when she was among the five Prevention Picture of Health finalists (alongside Maria Ruoff, MaryKay Mullally, Colleen Kelley, and Eileen Friedman). A diet and exercise brought her a $10,000 grand prize last year, but more importantly, a healthier lifestyle. Today Becky is an inspiration for many people. In the following we will try to bring you closer to her online presence.
Becky Griggs runs a blog called I Believe in Fitness. Judging by her stunning accomplishments, the “I believe in fitness” statement is not just hype.
But Becky’s blog is not as popular as it should be, her Twitter presence is insignificant, her LinkedIn profile as poor as her Twitter account, her YouTube channel seems outdated, the Facebook Network Blog has only 32 followers and the list could go on. It seems that Becky decided to keep a low profile, although the CNN continues to keep her in the headlines. “From fat to gym rat, woman loses 200 pounds” was the title of the article that caused the media frenzy that made Becky Griggs the most popular personality of the hour on Google search.
These days, Becky Griggs starts her morning well before the sun comes up, in time to meet her clients at the gym at 5:30. It’s a big change from six years ago, when she was 352 pounds and, as she calls it, engaged in a “slow form of suicide.”
And when we look at the images below we see a beautiful woman, who achieved what many still consider impossible. It didn’t happen over night, it didn’t happen with a “miracle diet” or a miracle weight loss pill. The hard work, and determination, and the will to live a healthy life, are her secrets. Too bad that Becky is not more involved online, where people who really need to learn about her story are currently searching for wonder recipes to a healthier body. Being thin is not the same as being healthy, Becky would tell you, as she told CNN: “We are taught what is slim and skinny and pretty and right, but in reality, what is fit and healthy is a different thing.”

Very nice article Liliana!
So many people are looking for a way to get thin quick, but losing weight isn’t about fad diets nor should it be about having a Barbie doll figure. It should be about making healthy choices for your body (nutritious foods and appropriate exercise) and being comfortable in your own skin.
Becky made the choice to commit herself to such a lifestyle and her hard work and determination has really paid off. Not to mention the fact that she’s setting a great example for a lot of people! Kudos to her, and to you as well for a good article!

I wish I had her determination. I am still trying to lose the 20kg I gained during the pregnancy. But I cannot possible start the diet now. We are going home for Christmas, and you know what that means! How can I tell my mom I do not eat sarmale? Huh? Never gonna happen!
